Pinkietessa's A - Z of LondonPinkietessa went out on the streets in all weathers taking photographs of herself with iconic, not-so-iconic and downright non-iconic monuments and sites of interest in London – one for every letter. The collection of photographs is a celebration of Pinkietessa's own eccentricities and those of the protagonist, London Town. As London belongs to its inhabitants, Pinkietessa took the deliberate decision not to seek permission, finding she had to contend not only with groups of mesmerised onlookers but also beady-eyed security guards not adverse to throwing their considerable weight around. The project was shot in strict alphabetical order and took a year to complete thus allowing the viewer to witness the changing seasons. Pinkietessa's powerful blend of sexiness and girlish artifice gives familiar sights an unexpected new lease of life, undercut with a dry, deadpan humour. As a number of years have elapsed since the project's conclusion, several sights have ceased to be, but due entirely to Pinkietessa and her camera they are captured forever in a jolly pink way. Four slim volumes will document Pinkietessa's A – Z of London, one for each exhibition of her work leading up to the 2012 Olympics. The accompanying videos, one for each letter, packed with with historical titbits, will be found on YouTube. Part Two in the series, Greater London House – Monument, will be launched on Tuesday 29 November, in association with Robert Pereno and the Society Club (est. 1957). Venue: Start time: 7pm for 7.30pm Show of related films; with related Pinkietessa merchandise. After the film show, we shall relax on the Roof Terrace with a beverage and mingle.
